The 16th Annual Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival

It’s the hottest weekend of the summer as some of the finest world, folk, roots and blues artists on the planet fill six daytime and two nighttime outdoor stages, at the Sixteenth Annual Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival (August 15th, 16th, and 17th at the Salmon Arm Fair Grounds). Set beneath the splendid natural backdrop of Mount Ida and the Fly Hills, this three day musical extravaganza features over 50 Canadian and international acts, representing a rainbow of music and cultures from around the world. Listed in “The Best of the Fests 2005” review in the Toronto Globe and Mail, Roots and Blues offers something for everyone. Performers already in the line-up for 2008 include the Neville Brothers, Spirit of the West, Janis Joplin’s original band – Big Brother and the Holding Company, Po’ Girl, Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir, Rosie Ledet and the Zydeco Playboys, Bobby Rush, Jorane, Squirrel Nut Zippers, David Wilcox, Jimmy Bowskill Band, the Re-Mains, Jane Vain and the Dark Matter, Snehasish Mozumder, Justin King, Jayme Stone and Mansa Sissoko, Baskery, and much more.
Site amenities include Food Concessions, Artisan’s Market, Beer Gardens, Limited Pre-registered Camping and a Family Stage, with lots of play and craft activities along with a daytime schedule jam-packed full of innovative and entertaining children’s performers. Children 12 and under are free and the site is wheelchair accessible.
