Mission Statement

"Thompson Okanagan Tourism exists to increase members' revenue and sustainability through cooperative marketing, ongoing education, and government liaison to ensure Life is good."

Code of Ethics

As a member of TOTA, I agree to the TOTA Code of Ethics:

  1. To maintain a high degree of professionalism, service and hospitality at all times.
  2. To adhere to regulations and guidelines of co-op marketing opportunities.
  3. To provide truthful information in all marketing and sales advertising.
  4. To offer a fair exchange in foreign currency.

Policies & Procedures

As a member of the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, you have the opportunity to participate in many exciting cooperative funded advertising campaigns.

TOTA's goal is to increase gross regional tourism revenues. The strategies employed by TOTA to achieve this goal are to encourage and increase visitor numbers, extend their length of stay and inflate their per diem expenditure by improving the effectiveness and efficiencies of the regional market activities.

TOTA's marketing philosophy is, wherever possible, to lever or extend the buying power of its advertising and promotional budgets by co-operating with the private sector. In addition, marketing research indicates that the key visitor markets of Alberta, Washington, Oregon, and the residents of British Columbia respond to "Regional" marketing initiatives.

The co-op program was designed to create integrated private sector and regional marketing initiatives. Marketing on a regional basis will result in campaigns which focus on the generalized "image" approach.

TOTA plans, executes, and administers the marketing plan, while Tourism BC provides consultative services and a 35%, 50%, or 60% share of marketing costs.
