The Allan Brooks Nature Centre is a non-profit organization that was established in 1994, to give visitors a first-hand opportunity to see and learn about nature in the North Okanagan.
Located just 5 minutes from downtown Vernon, The Allan Brooks Nature Center with it’s spectacular view of Vernon and the 3 surrounding lakes, is a great place for bird watching. Red tailed and harrier hawks are generally visible from the Centre, while bluebirds, swallows, and meadowlarks are regular visitors.
Take a leisurely tour along the grasslands trail to learn more about the local wildlife and plant life. Visit the Discovery Room with hands-on exhibits, a working beehive in a plexiglass setting, natural history exhibits, and original murals of wildlife and plants. Nature lovers of all ages will enjoy our evening programs offered throughout the season. Topics include astronomy, mushroom identification, the benefits of bats, Okanagan snakes, marmots and much more.
The Allan Brooks Nature Centre is open 10am to 5 pm. Tuesday through Sunday. Closed Mondays.
Site admission: Adults $4.50
Seniors/youth $3.50
