Fishing...it?s the whole experience that really gets you hooked. Getting back to nature. Appreciating the complete silence and solitude. Watching the wildlife from a canoe. Spending quality time with a loved one. Absolutely seizing the day from dawn to dusk. Looking for the ultimate freshwater fishing experience? Look no further than the Thompson Okanagan
Hundreds of lakes dot the landscape in the Thompson Okanagan. Here is spectacular scenery. Nature as it?s meant to be...clean, pristine, peaceful. Lakes that are brimming with a wide variety of fish: Dolly Varden, Bass, Kokanee, Steelhead, Whitefish, Brook, Rainbow and of course the ever popular mighty Kamloops Trout. It is all here.
A growing trend, towards catch and release, means there is no limit to how many fish you reel in. Many of our lakes are stocked, giving even the inexperienced fisher a fighting chance! Fly fishing lessons are available, and all equipment can be provided.
There are many different types of fishing resorts to choose from. Spend time in an intimate, four star lodge, with well stocked lakes and gourmet meals at the end of the day; or hire a float plane to fly into a fishing resort. A helicopter ride will take you into the spectacular mountains to alpine lakes. Hire a guide to show you were the ?hatch? is happening. Family resorts abound with a multitude of activities.

Sport fishing in the Thompson Okanagan is administered by the Government of British Columbia. All persons age 16 and over are required to have a fishing license. Anglers must also be aware of fishing guidelines, closures, quotas, possession limits and gear restrictions. Ask for a copy of the Freshwater Fishing Regulations when purchasing a license or visit http://wlapwww.gov.bc.ca/fw/fish/recreational.html
With over one thousand fishing lakes, the Thompson Okanagan truly offers a lake for every fisher. For more information on our many fishing lakes call the Kamloops Visitor Info Centre at 1-800-662-1994 (toll free).
