High standards at VanWest College are maintained in several ways: rigorous entrance and exit tests for each proficiency level; clear criteria for the granting of certificates and diplomas, and demanding test preparation courses for FCE, CAE, BEC, TOEFL and TOEIC ® Test. VanWest is an authorized TOEFL Test Centre , an authorized TOEIC Testing Centre, and an official Cambridge Test venue. Program standards are complemented by strict enforcement of Attendance and English Only policies.

To enhance their studies, students are offered a wide variety of activities. After class, students can attend free Conversation, Art and Reading Clubs or attend a Guest Speaker presentation. An energetic Activities Coordinator arranges a wide variety of reasonably priced evening and weekend activities in the world of sports, arts and culture, sightseeing, and outdoor adventure.
