Sun Rivers Golf Community

Winner of the “Best Course in Western Canada” 2003 by Golf Digest Magazine, Sun Rivers is Kamloops’ newest 18 hole Championship golf course. It is home to the SunRiversSchool of Golf, which offers a variety of instruction for all skill levels.

Carved out of the spectacular benchlands located 5 minutes from downtown Kamloops at the base of Mounts Peter and Paul, the Sun Rivers Championship Golf Course is one of the few true desert courses in Canada. California Big Horn Sheep grace the fairways weaving in and around the residential neighbourhoods at Sun Rivers. The championship golf course is the focal point of the entire community where golfers will experience a variety of holes that feature dramatic elevation changes, sage brush, classic bunkering, wide bentgrass fairways, gently contoured greens, and majestic vistas.

The driving range, oriented north, offers five target areas positioned from a bentgrass tee deck. The Sun Rivers School of Golf programs are designed with a vast range of golfers’ abilities in mind. Programs range from being geared specifically for first time women golfers who want to feel more comfortable golfing a championship course, to fine tuning the subtleties of elite players, to programs specifically for Junior golfers looking to advance their game to a competitive level. The school covers all facets of instruction and offers Stay, Learn and Play packages.

The desert style par 72, 18-hole championship course designed by Graham Cooke offers the golfer over 7,000 yards of memorable golf. Surrounded by panoramic vistas, the native sage on the 2nd hole, the expressive sand dunes on the 3rd hole, the elevated tees on the 4th hole along with the exquisite five finishing holes, Sun Rivers provides some of the finest golf in North America. The Sun Rivers Golf Course is designed for the enjoyment of players at all skill levels.

After your game enjoy casual Kamloops cuisine and refreshments in the $12,800 sq. foot Sun Rivers Clubhouse which is scheduled to open June 17th of the 2005 golf season. A unique place for lunch, dinner, Sunday brunch or that special function, the Sun Rivers Restaurant offers sumptuous delicacies for all tastes. To facilitate large functions and events, Sun Rivers will be following the Clubhouse construction with the World’s Largest Tipi. The Tipi is designed for April-October events and will seat 200 people banquet style.
