Sun Peaks is a world-class alpine mountain resort located in the exquisite Thompson Okanagan region of BC. Situated 45 minutes north of Kamloops, it’s easily accessible by car, bus, or air with Kamloops, Kelowna, Calgary and Vancouver gateways. When travelling through this region, it’s a great destination to pair with Jasper, Banff, Whistler or Okanagan circle tours. As a four season community, Sun Peaks boasts abundant options in activities, dining and accommodations, with 9 hotels/lodges plus dozens of townhomes and chalets. The charming, pedestrian/ski-through village is at the centre of it all, with covered walkways, unique architecture, boutique shops and diverse culinary options. Summer activities include horseback trail rides, alpine hiking tours, a downhill mountain bike park, canoeing on McGillivray Lake, a Graham Cooke designed 18-hole golf course and driving range plus many village events, including the Wine and Culture Festival in July. Guests of all ages and fitness levels can take the Sunburst Chairlift to the alpine and see the stunning wildflowers during alpine blossom season mid-July to mid-August. In the winter, Sun Peaks morphs into an exciting family friendly ski destination. With 122 runs and diverse terrain on 3 mountains there are options for all ski abilities. There are also plenty of other winter activities available (see beside). With dry, easy-to-ski powder, uncrowded slopes, plenty of sunshine and ski-in/ski-out accommodation, it’s relaxing and memorable. Guests can join the daily complimentary mountain tours from the Sun Guides, or even ski with Olympic Champion, Nancy Greene, during one of her complimentary tours on most Saturdays and Sundays. They may even spot the Austrian National Ski Team athletes who train at Sun Peaks early season in preparation for World Cup events and the 2010 Olympics. Sun Peaks is proud to be named Canada’s 2nd Best Ski Resort by the 2008 Condé Nast Traveller reader poll.
